Osceola County C.E.R.T. Gets New Equipment Courtesy of Fremont Area Community Foundation
Thanks to a gracious grant award from the Fremont Area Community Foundation, Osceola County's C.E.R.T. program has new equipment that will help in boosting the team's capabilities to help Osceola County first responders with emergencies and special events.
The grant for $3,300 has provided the team with traffic control equipment including 12 barricades, traffic wands, traffic cones, and team shirts for use on emergency scenes and special event traffic control.
On behalf of Osceola County Emergency Management, C.E.R.T., and the first responders and citizens we serve, we would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Fremont Area Community Foundation for helping us help first responders and the community!

What Is C.E.R.T.?
The Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) is an emergency management program that harnesses the power of citizen volunteers to assist emergency services in lite duty assignments. C.E.R.T. members are specially trained, equipped, and experienced to act as a force multiplier for police, fire/rescue, and other responders to help in community safety when needed. In 2022, the Osceola C.E.R.T. assisted with hundreds of manpower hours to various public safety missions in our area!
How Does C.E.R.T. Help The Community?
Traffic control at parades, special events, and emergencies
Training by acting as simulated victims at trainings & drills
1st Responder Support at major fires and other emergencies
Event Safety via crowd control, communications, and other activities
Community Education on safety & disaster preparedness
Special Responses such as Search & Location, disaster damage assessment, and other emergency operations
General Manpower - CERT's capabilities as credentialed, trained, and equipped personnel allow for a wide range of duties too long to list

If you're interested in C.E.R.T., the easiest way to start is to contact us and come join us for a meeting or event. Our helpful members will provide a quick overview of the team and answer any and all questions you have about the team. If you are seriously interested in formally joining, an experienced C.E.R.T. member will mentor you along the process.
