What Is C.E.R.T.?
Osceola County CERT has been serving the community since 2008!
Osceola County's Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) is a program that harnesses the power of citizen volunteers to assist emergency services in lite duty assignments & missions.
C.E.R.T. members are specially trained, equipped, and experienced to act as a force multiplier for police, fire/rescue, and other responders to help in community special events and emergencies when needed. C.E.R.T. is a part of the national Citizen Corps program that is aimed at providing the opportunity for citizens to become involved and active in their community's safety & preparedness efforts.
What Does C.E.R.T. Do In Our Community?
CERT is a national program harnessing volunteers for service in many communities.
Osceola County CERT assists public safety agencies upon request by providing credentialed, trained, equipped, and experienced volunteers for a wide range of lite duty missions and assignments. Based on 2022's records, our most common activities include:
TRAFFIC CONTROL at parades, special events, and emergencies
TRAINING SUPPORT by acting as simulated victims at trainings, drills, & demonstrations
SPECIAL EVENT SAFETY for crowd control, communications, 1st aid, and basic security
1st RESPONDER SUPPORT such as bringing refreshments, equipment, and supplies to agencies at major fires, traffic accidents, and other emergency scenes
COMMUNITY EDUCATION presentations for safety & disaster preparedness
SPECIAL RESPONSES such as Search & Location, disaster damage assessment, emergency sheltering, and other pre-assigned roles

Our CERT Coordinator (Mary) is an expert at providing interested persons a quick overview of CERT and answering any and all questions on our activities. Our meetings are open to the public and guests are especially welcome! You can even help us in posted missions with only a few formalities and on-demand training.
